From Waimea High to the Nā Pali Coast, Inspiring the Next Generation
Yesterday, November 4, 2026, the Na Pali Experience crew traded the ocean for the classroom as we participated in Waimea High School’s 3 Es Career Fair, connecting with local students and sharing the exciting career opportunities available right here on Kauaʻi.
For our team, this event was about more than showcasing what we do. It was about inspiring the next generation to explore careers on the water and showing students that some of the most rewarding opportunities can be found right in their own backyard.
Turning a Passion for the Ocean Into a Career
From captaining vessels along the breathtaking Nā Pali Coast to working as deckhands, marine mechanics, guest relations specialists, and managers, we shared the many different roles that keep Na Pali Experience running.
Students had the opportunity to meet members of our team, ask questions, and get a glimpse into what a career in Hawaiʻi’s marine tourism industry looks like.
We also highlighted our Adopt Na Pali initiative, sharing the importance of protecting the coastline that makes our work possible. For us, working on the ocean comes with a responsibility to care for it, and we hope to pass that same sense of stewardship on to the next generation.
From Waimea High School to the Nā Pali Coast
This career fair was especially meaningful because several members of our own team once walked the very same halls!
Captain Kielland, Captain Candice, and crew members Kasey and Kona are all proud Waimea High School graduates, and today they’re building careers doing what they love right here on Kauaʻi.
Having our own alumni return to connect with students was a great reminder that the opportunities we’re sharing aren’t just possibilities. They’re real career paths taken by people who grew up in the same community, attended the same school, and turned their passion for the ocean into a profession.
We hope their stories inspire students to see just how far their own interests and ambitions can take them.
Building a Future Right Here on Kauaʻi
As a locally rooted company operating out of Kauaʻi’s west side, we know how important it is to create meaningful career opportunities for our island’s youth.
A career on the water offers so much more than incredible views. It builds confidence, leadership, teamwork, problem-solving skills, and a deep appreciation for our island’s natural environment.
Our hope is that students walked away realizing that a passion for the ocean, boating, wildlife, or simply connecting with people can grow into a fulfilling career without having to leave the island they call home. If they want to leave, the skills and experience gained on Kauai’s waters can open doors to exciting maritime careers around the world, proving that even a small island can be the starting point for a world of opportunities.
Mahalo to Waimea High School for inviting us to be part of this special event! We loved connecting with students, sharing our experiences, and hopefully inspiring a few future captains along the way.
