Experience the Magic of Hawaiian Spinner Dolphins!

Seeing Hawaiian spinner dolphins in the wild is a once-in-a-lifetime experience, and there’s no better chance to see then on our 7am Deluxe Power Catamaran Tour of the Na Pali Coast.  As we cruise along the coastline, keep your eyes peeled for these energetic creatures- they just may put on a show!

Why Are Mornings the Best Time to See Dolphins?

Spinner dolphins are early risers, just like us!  They spend their mornings resting and playing in clean, blue water near shore.  As the day goes on they get ready to head far off shore into deep waters to hit up the sushi bar!

The earlier the better!  Heading out on the coast at first light means you maximize your odds of finding these acrobatic mammals playing.  We often see them multiple times throughout our 7am tour.

Dolphin Fun Facts

  • Hawaiian spinner dolphins can leap out of the water and spin up to seven times in a single jump!

  • Unlike humans, dolphins rest while swimming!  They shut down half of their brain and keep one eye open, allowing them to stay alert for predators while still getting some rest.

  • These social dolphins travel in groups called pods, which can range from a dozen to 100 individuals.  You may even get lucky and see a super pod made up of a thousand dolphins!

  • In Hawaiian culture spinner dolphins are considered aumakua, or ancestral guardians.  Some believe they protect and guide people at sea, making an encounter with them even more special.
