Community First: Partnering with Kumano I Ke Ala

At Nā Pali Experience, we are incredibly proud to call Kauaʻi home. While we spend our days guiding Nā Pali Coast boat tours and sharing the beauty of the island with visitors, our commitment to this place goes far beyond the water.

Recently our entire team volunteered for a work day with Kumano I Ke Ala, and it was an experience that truly inspired us and reminded us why community matters.

What We Accomplished

We spent the morning working together in the lo’i polling weeds around the Kalo and helping clear and care for the growing areas.  It was muddy, hands on, and humbling in the best way.  There is something grounding about standing barefoot in the soil, tending plants that carry so much cultural and historical significance in Hawai’i.

Kalo is more than a crop.  It represents nourishment, family and connection.  Being trusted to help mālama that space, even in a small way, was something our team did not take lightly.

Investing in the Future of Kaua’i

Kumano I Ke Ala is deeply committed to strengthening the Kauaʻi community through education, cultural practice, mentorship, and service. Their programs create opportunity and connection for local families and youth, and you can feel the purpose in everything they do.

We were genuinely stoked to roll up our sleeves and support their mission. Working side by side outside of our usual roles brought our crew together in a different way. No titles. No tour schedules. Just teamwork and intention.

Why It Matters

The Nā Pali Coast may be where we work, but Kauaʻi is our home. Supporting organizations like Kumano I Ke Ala and contributing to the land and community that give us so much will always be part of who we are.

Explore the Pali Coast With Intention

Giving back is one way to connect with Kaua’i.  Experiencing it with care and respect is another.

When you join us on a Nā Pali Coast boat tour, you are choosing a locally owned Kaua’i company that believes stewardship extends beyond the shoreline.  The same values that guide our team in the lo’i and in the community guide us on the water every single day.

Whether you are discovering the Nā Pali Coast for the first time, or seeing it again through local eyes, we are grateful for the chance to experience it together.
